How Different Cultures Look at Vaping Around the World

Just a decade ago, vaping was a term no one knew about. Then, a few years were more than enough for vaping to become popular worldwide. As a result, vaping is one of the favorite hobbies and activities people gladly indulge in today.

With various vaping devices and other vape products hitting the market and numerous vape shops opening their doors to the general public, vaping has reached even the most remote parts of the world. Vapers now have plenty of resources and choices for their favorite activity.

Nevertheless, how do different cultures look at vaping? Is it accepted or frowned upon? Keep reading to learn everything about it.

The USA

Although you can find some of the best vape coils in the USA, that doesn’t necessarily mean vaping is allowed and supported in all US states. Since there’s no federal law related to vaping, each state has the freedom to choose individual regulations regarding this activity.

Most countries, 33 to be exact, allow vaping state-wide and let their localities decide whether they’re going to allow or ban vaping on their grounds. As people have the freedom to choose, it’s common for some indoor public spaces to allow smoking while others prohibit it.

Six states, including Nevada, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tennessee, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island, allow and support vaping indoors and outdoors. Furthermore, residents of these states can’t decide or change the laws related to vaping.

Finally, 11 states, California, Oregon, Utah, North Dakota, New York, Vermont, Maine, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, and Hawaii, have entirely banned indoor vaping state-wide, although it’s allowed outdoors.

Despite all of this, the USA remains the largest vaping market and simultaneously has the biggest vaping community worldwide.

Canada

Canada is quite a liberal country, which is also true when it comes to vaping laws. The streets are filled with various vape shops, and the community is very open-minded and supportive. However, the rules are different even though the citizens support all kinds of new and alternative solutions.

For instance, each province comes up with its unique laws, similar to the US. There’s no federal law about vaping concerning all provinces, and vaping isn’t allowed indoors everywhere. While you’ll need to check out the specific province laws before starting vaping in public, the Canadian people have accepted vaping and look at it from a positive perspective.

The UK

Moving on to Europe, the UK is undoubtedly one of the leading European countries with the best vaping market.

The British government has set quite strict rules about when and where people can use vape products. Despite the rigorous approach to vaping, the UK remains among the countries most frequently associated with vaping.

Additionally, the UK vaping culture grows strong each year, and most of the nation openly supports it. While you still need to be more cautious with vaping than in Canada and the US, you can still have a great time in the UK.

France

If you’re searching for your next holiday destination, which approves of vaping, France might be just what you need. As a large European touristic center, France had to make vaping legal, at least to a certain extent.

Because of that, you can safely and freely enjoy vaping almost anywhere. The only exceptions are public buildings and public transportation, where vaping is strongly prohibited. While vaping in public spaces is frowned upon, we see more conceptualized lounges and bars specifically designed to cater to all the vapers’ needs.

If you’re looking to buy new e-liquids or vape devices, you can easily do so in one of the countless vape shops popping up across France.

Italy

Italy is said to be absolute heaven on Earth for all vapers, and there’s no other country where the local people have so positively accepted vaping. Having that in mind, we had to check whether these rumors were true.

To our genuine surprise, vaping in Italy is entirely legal and even encouraged. Many Italian citizens have overwhelmingly positive attitudes concerning vaping, which is why so many people took upon it in the first place.

What’s more, vaping has strong support from the Italian government, with taxes on vape juices and liquids cut even by 90%. Therefore, if you’re looking for a place where you can enjoy vaping without boundaries and meet plenty of fellow vapers along the way, Italy is the place you should visit next.

China

Quite contrary to the previously-mentioned countries, China has a different approach to vaping. China remains one of the most crucial roles that make vaping possible because the Chinese workers manufacture most vape products.

When it comes to statistics, China has the largest number of vapers globally, but that’s because it’s the most populated country.

In reality, not many people living in China are fans of vaping products, nor is the government. Out of respect for culture, religion, and tradition, vaping is discouraged and frowned upon, especially in public.

Australia

Wrapping it up with Australia, a passed law clearly states which e-liquids are allowed and prohibited. All vape juices containing nicotine are illegal to sell, purchase, and use across Australia.  On the other hand, all liquids without nicotine are legal.

The good thing about this is that everyone can enjoy vaping if the e-juice doesn’t contain nicotine. Most citizens respect this decision and vape responsibly.

The bottom line

Let us sum up this whole story. The approach to vaping differs from person to person, but we could make some generalizations as with anything in the world. While some countries look at vaping as a great activity, others discourage its use. It typically depends on the culture and tradition practiced locally, which influences the people’s lifestyle choices.

Vaping is still growing in popularity and use, so numerous changes in law and opinion are yet to occur. We can only wait and see what the future will bring. Be sure to stay up to date with the news in your area.
