Importance Of Body Scrub:

When it comes to self-care, body care plays a vital role in it. When most people show more importance to face care, it is equally important to take care of all parts of the body too. This helps in keeping our bodies clean and more hygienic. One of the aims of using the body scrub is to remove the dead skin cells present in the body. When the dead skin cells are removed once in a while, the skin becomes squeaky clean and glows. The reason for the glow is when the dead skin is removed the next layer of skin will be projected which actually gives a fresh look and a natural glow. When the dead skin is removed, the dirt or accumulations present in the skin will also be removed which prevents acne breakouts and its scars.

The body scrub can be used once or twice a month. But continuous usage will actually hurt the skin and damage the cells of the skin. There are many homemade products and DIY remedies that will help to remove the dead skin layers of the body. When you are using any homemade products on your skin, make sure to gently scrub without hurting or tearing the skin. Initially, it is important to cleanse your body, before using any kind of scrub. Cleansing removes the dirt and other particles present in the body which automatically makes the scrubbing process easier. It is generally a myth that body scrubbing helps in whitening your skin; Since the dead skin is removed completely a kind of glow would be visible which is not called whitening.

DIY Body Scrub:

  1. Coffee Scrub: Coffee is one of the best exfoliating agents that is mild and at the same helps in removing the dead skin cells from the roots. Mixing 1 spoon of coffee powder with 2 – 3 drops of coconut oil and water will be in quite runny-thick consistency. If you feel the coffee powder is quite in larger lumps, make sure to grind once before using so that they don’t hurt your skin. Take a gentle amount in your fingers, and gently massage them in a circular motion. If you don’t have time to scrub, get the body scrub.
  2. Lemon – Sugar Scrub: Lemon is one of the natural acidity products that help the skin to remove the dirt and excess accumulation of sweaty odors. Taking a spoon of lemon juice with powdered sugar and a few drops of almond or olive oil will help in exfoliating and help in removing the dead skin cells naturally. It is generally recommended to not use sugar directly, because the sharp edges will actually damage the skin and its texture.
  3. As an alternative to white sugar, you can also use brown sugar which gently exfoliates and removes the dead skin cells. People with sensitive, combinational, or acne-prone skin should be very careful while using DIY scrubs since when they are not used in the right way, they will make your skin conditions worse.
  4. Honey – Sugar Scrub: Honey is one of the best antibacterial and antifungal agents. Take 2 – 3 heaped spoons of honey, mix with grounded sugar or brown sugar, and add 2 – 3 spoons of olive or almond oil. This is also naturally exfoliate without damaging the skin.

There are also body exfoliating lotions that help in gently exfoliating the skin without causing any sort of damage. If you want to exfoliate frequently, look for a product that has fine granules which is a mild scrub. If you have rough skin types, look for products that have large granules to look in a scrub.
