However, this doesn’t detract from the quality of the experience, as the writing and voice-acting are top-notch. Even if you don’t connect to the storyline at first, it should easily grow in appeal thanks to the engaging puzzles and exciting gameplay.

In terms of the game’s two main themes – the mystery and the suspense – Two Point Hospital and Cedar Studios once again deliver. Puzzles involve a mixture of logic, memory, and deduction, as players piece together a sequence of events and use logic to uncover the identity of the man behind the mystery, as well as to help save the lives of certain characters, such as the local sheriff. As you progress through the levels, you’ll encounter increasing difficulty, until the end where the last challenge involves using your mind to solve a gauntlet of puzzles, from simple crossword puzzles to more difficult brain teasers. Throughout the game, you’ll also find a number of Easter eggs scattered throughout its environments, which will unlock even more puzzles as you move through each stage.

Two Point Hospital and Cedar Studios also excel at concept artwork, which manages to combine style and function into an enjoyable package. Concept images for many games can seem over-designed and cluttered, but Two Point Hospital and Cedar Studios manage to make fine artwork look like an actual part of the game. The stylized illustrations that pop up while you explore Two Point Hospital and Cedar Studios are charming, with varying shapes, colors, and sizes. The storyboard, which gives you a brief description of your surroundings and the events occurring there, is beautifully illustrated, while the colorful art and animation help to support the storyline. While the puzzles may be simple, they’re designed to be challenging enough to keep you coming back for another round.

Two Point Hospital isn’t just about mystery and doctor-patient conflict; it also showcases some unexpectedly funny scenes. During one scene you’ll see a patient in bed reading a newspaper, only to have the paper cut in half just as a bullet is pointed directly at her head. This is just one of the gags included in this video game, which is definitely something you won’t hear too often from a doctor’s office comedy. Two Point Hospital also features a number of popular TV series regulars, including Healorman, Rosewood, Cougar Town, Frasier, The X-Files, Everybody Loves Raymond, and several others. Aesthetics and sound design are both solid here, with the audio representing the theme of Two Point Hospital and the graphics a level of visual quality rivaling most modern PC gaming. Two Point Hospital might not be a very funny video game, but it is still a fun-management game, with enough laughs to make it feel worthwhile.
