The do’s and don’ts of buying second hand tech

Here at Tech Tiger, we are strong advocates of the second-hand market – particularly when it comes to technology and the devices which we all lean on every single day. The fact is that the technology market, particularly that of smartphones, is constantly changing, with consumers made to believe that their device is out of date almost as soon as they’ve got it.

With that being said, our focus is on raising awareness of and distributing second-hand, recycled, and refurbished mobile phones – with some of our most popular models being Apple products.

In this article, we’re taking a look at a refurbished iPhone XR to share our exclusive Do’s and Don’ts from inside the second-hand technology industry.

The “Must Do’s” of buying second hand tech

DO… Buy from a reputable company

A reputable company is one which recognises the value in the second-hand technology market – not just to make sales but to support a healthy planet and nurture a happy customer base. By making smartphones and high-quality tech accessible to more buyers, with great products at better prices, we put the customer first every time.

DO… Check the warranty

One of the most common misconceptions from within the second-hand technology marketplace is that products that aren’t brand new don’t have any warranty. Here at Tech Tiger, we are so confident in the quality of our refurbished products that we offer a 13-month warranty as our standard. If the product doesn’t come with a warranty, then you have no guarantee or even indication of quality.

The “Don’ts” of buying second hand tech

DON’T… Overlook the grading system

Whether you’re new to our website or have been here before, you won’t have missed our grading system. Starting at Grade A and climbing down to Grade D, this system lets you quickly and easily identify the quality of each refurbished product available – so you know exactly what you’re getting.

This grading system focuses on the condition of each piece, ranging from mint condition to the minor wear and tear associated with buying second-hand.

DON’T… Buy new when you don’t need to!

More often than not, a brand new smartphone is a costly and unnecessary purchase which leaves you fearing for its safety for weeks and even months after purchase. When you buy second-hand, you breathe new life into a quality product and save yet another unwanted phone from going to landfill – where it has a negative impact on the environment.

Here at Tech Tiger, we boast a range of Apple and Samsung smartphones, including the iPhone XR and even newer models as we continue to raise awareness and drive the prominence of the second-hand tech market. Visit our website to see the full range.
