PoE Siege of the Atlas End Game Changes

PoE’s Siege of the Atlas will allow players to create their own endgame.

Changes to Regions and the New Atlas Skill Tree

Watchstones and Voidstones: With the newest addition to PoE, Watchstones have been eliminated and replaced with Voidstones which will allow the user to unlock up to 16 tiers (all maps) for endgame play. Along with the elimination of regions and their respective, separate skill trees, a massive new skill tree has been introduced.

Passive Skill Tree: The skill tree itself was introduced in a previous expansion (Echoes of the Atlas) and reworked for the newest edition. Instead of the user playing through regions which include separate unlockable trees, the new rework introduces a massive singular tree which interconnects the entire game. A player unlocks passive tree points by fulfilling map completion bonuses, finishing quests, and completing Maven invitations. Tree points are spent in order to unlock better rewards and customize fights within the entire Atlas. With better rewards comes the possibility of obtaining PoE currency items such as the Exalted Orb which are essential if users want to partake in PoE trade.

New Bosses

The Searing Exarch: The Searing Exarch is among two of the newest Eldrich Horrors. Before a player can encounter The Exarch, the user must first defeat The Black Star, a minor boss who drops an Incandescent Invitation permitting access to the Absence of Patience and Wisdom, the realm where The Searing Exarch resides. The Exarch has a combat level of 84 and is 50% resistant to Fire, Cold, and Lightning as well as 30% resistant to Chaos. The Searing Exarch is solely fire based in his attacks which include: Rolling Meteor Wall, Lantern Explosion, and a default attack which sees 75% of physical damage transformed into fire. A guaranteed drop after defeating The Searing Exarch is an Omniscient Voidstone, one of over 600 tree points.  Good items which can be obtained through PoE Trade are highly recommended before fighting The Searing Exarch.

The Eater of Worlds: The Eater of Worlds is another new pinnacle boss in the Siege of the Atlas expansion. Before encountering the monster, players must first defeat the Infinite Hunger which will allow players to obtain a Screaming Invitation permitting access to the Absence of Symmetry and Harmony. Similar to The Searing Exarch, The Eater of Worlds has a combat level of 84 with 50% resistance to Fire, Cold, Lightning and a 30% resistance to Chaos. Some attacks that the player will encounter are: Sphere Slam, Tentacles Slam, and Lightning Beam. There is also a Doom Phase which involves The Eater of Worlds teleporting to the center of the map to power up. Purple spheres are then spawned around the dungeon by Maven and need to be activated by the player in 20 seconds or the entire arena takes heavy damage. After defeating The Eater of Worlds, the Screaming Invitation can be used as PoE currency in Poe Trade.

The Maven: Maven is more or less an overseer of the entire Siege of Atlas and the creator of the realm, partaking sometimes neutrally and sometimes against the player. She is level 84 and carries the same resistances as the Eldritch Horrors listed above. After defeating three bosses, Maven grants access to her Crucible. Here a player is asked to defeat three bosses simultaneously, then four, five, six, and finally ten. After the player has defeated ten bosses simultaneously, the user is permitted to fight The Maven herself. Good items that can be acquired with PoE currency through PoE Trade are necessary when taking on this boss. Two video guides for strategies on defeating The Maven can be found here.
