How to decorate your home office

The working world has changed dramatically in the last year and a half. More people are working from home and thriving on their own schedules. Most businesses have introduced hybrid working strategies so employees can choose between home and office work.

However, many Brits do not have the luxury of a home office at the moment. We worked from our bedrooms, dining tables and even hallways in some cases. If you plan to work from home for the foreseeable future, it’s time to find a designated workspace. You could turn the guest bedroom into your office or reserve a section of the living room for your work.

Here are a few ways you could decorate your home office.

Add some green

Plants are a huge interior trend right now. They add greenery, life and calmness to the home. You cancan stick to your enthral colour palette and implement a little colour with beautiful house plants. There are plenty of low maintenance plants to choose from, and a little greenery will brighten your office.

Let the light in

Natural light has been scientifically proven to brighten your mood, reduce stress and keep you awake. You can feel connected to the outdoors when you’re in the home office and keep the room well lit. Say goodbye to harsh LED lights and hello to soft natural lighting. If you don’t have much natural light in your office, use warm orange lamps to light the room.

Stay organised with drawers

Keep all your work belongings in one place and keep the desk clutter-free. A clear desk can help you to focus on work and forget about the to-do list in the back of your mind. A messy office can increase your stress levels and distract you from work. You will be too busy thinking about the pile of laundry in the corner.

If you are struggling with storage space, you could put some drawers under your desk. Store important documents, stationery, and spare paper in them. You could add a radiator cover over your radiator to make it a level place to store your folders.

Comfort is key

You need an ergonomic desk chair to stay comfortable and supported. A poor-quality desk and chair can cause back pain and bad posture. Prioritise comfort and practicality over the appearance of your desk-set up.

You could also add a plush rug to your office floor for a little warmth and decoration. Add a few posters with inspirational quotes on the wall to keep you motivated throughout the day. Finish your desk off with a stylish lamp and a personal photo of you and your loved ones.

Your home office should be a calm space that makes you excited to get back to work.
