How a Writing Style Reflects in your Essay

Style, as opposed to the meaning of what is written, refers to the method in which something is written. In writing, however, the two are inexorably linked. The reader’s view of the material is shaped by style, which serves as a container for the meaning of the text.

The writing style of a writer is what distinguishes their writing. It refers to how literature is dressed up (or toned down) for a given environment, purpose, or audience. Word choice, sentence flow, and the writer’s voice all contribute to a piece of writing’s style.

Two Elements of Writing Style

VOICE

The personality you adopt in your writing is referred to as your voice. It is the perspective from which you are narrating a story. Anything you write should retain your voice: something that makes your writing sound distinctively. A personal chat with a buddy is not the same as delivering a speech to a large group of strangers. The importance of your voice in writing cannot be overstated. The use of a specific language, tone, point of view, and sentence structure to impart meaning to a tale or novel is what voice is all about. TONE

The tone is defined as the attitude conveyed by a piece of text. Writers create the tone through word choice, sentence structure, and syntax. Aside from word choice, the entire tone or attitude of a piece of writing should be acceptable to the audience and goal. The tone can be logical or emotive, close or far away, objective or subjective, serious or amusing. It can be made up of long, sophisticated sentences, short, basic sentences, or something in between. (Good writers modify the length of their sentences frequently.)

Based on the writing style, you may sometimes identify the authors of specific literary works. Although each author has their writing style, the tone and voice they use in their writing are affected by the type of material they are writing. For example, in an academic essay, the style and voice should reflect formality instead of writing a descriptive or creative essay that can reflect some form of informality.

Types of Writing style

Expository Writing

Because the word expository contains the word expose, it is a fitting descriptor for this form of writing because it divulges, or sets forth, facts. It is most likely the most typical writing genre you will encounter during your day. A topic will be introduced and laid out in a logical order in an expository piece, with no reference to the author’s personal opinions.

Descriptive Writing

The goal of descriptive writing is to let the reader imagine a character, event, place, or all of these things simultaneously. The author could describe the scene using all five senses. Descriptive writing gives the writer far more aesthetic freedom than expository writing. Here, an author can flex his creative muscles to give his opinion, and his writing style shines through.

Persuasive Writing

“Persuasive writing is nonfiction writing that promotes careful word choice, the formulation of logical arguments, and the development of a unified summary.” According to reading rocket

This writing style is usually used to encourage others to do something. It includes cover letters, reviews, commercials, web content, etc. The goal is to persuade the readers of something in some way. The author uses a more precise tone to convince his audience to either take a position or an opposing position. An example can be seen in an argumentative essay. Regardless of the writing style, grade miners offer the best writing services.

Narrative Writing

This writing style is generally reserved for fiction. It is used to develop a tale and storyline by using descriptive writing to help you visualize it. In terms of writing instruction, narrative essays cover a wide range of topics, including the author’s intent, tone, voice, and structure, as well as teaching sentence structure, organization, and word choice.” This writing style makes full use of the writer’s imagination and personality. In most cases, the writer has full creative power and capacity.

How to find your writing style

– Read a lot

Reading increases the depth of your knowledge because you learn from other people’s experiences and immerse yourself in their world. In addition, it enables you to create your writing style.

Reading other people’s work will impact your writing. This is because we tend to write like what we read frequently.

– Write what comes with ease.

Writing is a part of who you are and should come naturally to you and not feel strange or difficult. Of course, you may experience writer’s block or struggle to develop what you want to express at times, but this should not be the norm.
