Importance Of Body Scrub:
When it comes to self-care, body care plays a vital role in it. When most people show more importance to face care, it is equally important to take care of all parts of the body too. This helps in keeping our bodies clean and more hygienic. One of the aims of using the body scrub is to remove the dead skin cells present in the body. When the dead skin cells are removed once in a while, the skin becomes squeaky clean and glows. DIY Body Scrub:
- Coffee Scrub: Coffee is one of the best exfoliating agents that is mild and at the same helps in removing the dead skin cells from the roots. Mixing 1 spoon of coffee powder with 2 – 3 drops of coconut oil and water will be in quite runny-thick consistency. If you feel the coffee powder is quite in larger lumps, make sure to grind once before using so that they don’t hurt your skin. Take a gentle amount in your fingers, and gently massage them in a circular motion. If you don’t have time to scrub, get the body scrub.
- Lemon – Sugar Scrub: Lemon is one of the natural acidity products that help the skin to remove the dirt and excess accumulation of sweaty odors. Taking a spoon of lemon juice with powdered sugar and a few drops of almond or olive oil will help in exfoliating and help in removing the dead skin cells naturally. It is generally recommended to not use sugar directly, because the sharp edges will actually damage the skin and its texture.
- As an alternative to white sugar, you can also use brown sugar which gently exfoliates and removes the dead skin cells. People with sensitive, combinational, or acne-prone skin should be very careful while using DIY scrubs since when they are not used in the right way, they will make your skin conditions worse.
- Honey – Sugar Scrub: Honey is one of the best antibacterial and antifungal agents. Take 2 – 3 heaped spoons of honey, mix with grounded sugar or brown sugar, and add 2 – 3 spoons of olive or almond oil. This is also naturally exfoliate without damaging the skin.
- Oats Powder – Take a good amount of oats, ground them and pack them into an airtight container. This will make your frequent exfoliation easier. Add a few drops of olive oil, and gently massage them into the skin for removing dead skin cells.
Things to Look for in a Body Scrub:
Body scrub would generally have an exfoliating agent in it like coffee, oats, sea salt, etc. Make sure to check the ingredients list, so that you will get to know the ingredients that you are using. There are also body exfoliating lotions that help in gently exfoliating the skin without causing any sort of damage. If you want to exfoliate frequently, look for a product that has fine granules which is a mild scrub. If you have rough skin types, look for products that have large granules to look in a scrub. If you suffer from extremely dry skin, pick a scrub infused with essential oils or a moisturizing cream base.
Ways to Use a Body Scrub:
- Cleanse the body with a bathing bar or body wash.
- Take your favorite body scrub, and gently massage them in a circular motion. Always opt for mild and skin-friendly scrub.
- Rinse the product thoroughly.
- When your skin is quite damp, apply a perfect body oil, body butter, or body lotion according to your choice.
- Apply sunscreen on your hands and legs if you are stepping out, to avoid sun tan on fresh skin.
