What is FORM BOC3?

The process agent, or BOC-3 for short, is an individual who acts as an intermediary between a driver and the FMCSA. This person is required to file FORM BOC3 in order to be listed as a process agent. If you are a motor carrier and operate in multiple states, you must file FORM BOC-3 with each state where you operate. Once filed, you must retain a copy of the form for your records. If you change your designation, you must file a new version of the form with the FMCSA. In case of changes, you must send copies of the new designation to the states affected.

If you are planning to file FORM BOC-3 with the FMCSA, it is important to know who to contact. Several companies claim to specialize in filing this form. You should only use process agents who have been authorized by the FMCSA to file this form and who have experience in the process of filing the form. Be sure to check the company’s license before hiring them. Ensure that they are licensed to file FORM BOC-3 in every state.

In most states, a motor carrier or his process agent must file this form with the FMCSA. You may also file FORM BOC-3 on your own behalf. Freight forwarders or brokers can also file this form. These individuals will not be on the road, however. So, they aren’t able to provide the same level of protection and peace of mind as a motor carrier does. When filing FORM BOC-3 with the FMCSA, you will need to select an agent who will receive and forward any legal documents. This agent will receive and forward legal documents to the owner. Generally, the SOP agent will charge you for their services, and will charge you additional fees for each document you file. It is recommended that you get a professional agent if you are not familiar with FMCSA regulations.

In addition to FORM BOC3, you must also complete the Endorsement for Motor Carrier Policies of Insurance for Public Liability. This form is an endorsement of liability, and is required for most motor carrier policies. The endorsement also unites company drivers under a single identity. This endorsement is important for process service and claims. This form must be completed before a motor carrier can operate legally. If you don’t complete this form, you risk being held liable for damages that occur as a result of the company’s motor vehicle.
