Popular Interior Design Styles Explained to get you started on your dream home

When you think about the ideal design style for your dream home, do you feel like you have lots of techniques you wish to incorporate but don’t know what to focus on? Irrespective of the type of house, the sense of style makes for a refined appearance. It can be daunting to decipher which type will work best for you with a plethora of design styles. Some also enjoy combining elements of several techniques to create their perfect look. A great starting point is to understand the different aspects in different interior styles: Also, if you are thinking about the dream home, Stair Parts is one of the best and most crucial parts that makes your home more attractive.

1. Modern: The interior style Modern design is characterized by a monochromatic colour palette, minimalism, natural materials, clean lines and natural light. It becomes popular post the historical aesthetic movement during the early to mid-twentieth century. If you are a fan of uncluttered spaces to keep your stress levels away, you will love clean lines in modern furniture emphasizing sharp rooms and a Modern Interior Design style.

2. Art Modern: This bold interior design style is rendered in elegant compositions through balance and restraint. With its origins in the glamour of post-war Europe and America, this style is an aesthetic exploration of symmetry and order. The lines and geometry dominate the designs and compositions: angular patterns, layered arrangements and curves in different forms and aesthetics. The elements are mainly echoed in shiny metal fittings, lacquered paint, wood, or sprinkled glass. Their lighting inspirations can also distinguish modern Art Deco style.

4. Minimalist: A style that has similar cues to modern – minimalist has clean lines and simple shapes; however, the type lives by the mantra “less is more”. It uses a very refined had when selecting rooms that fall into this style, and everything in these rooms must play a purpose. You won’t find too many different objects or layers.

5. Scandinavian: As the name indicates, Scandinavian design styles are nordic in their root. The elements have some similarities to modern but are more minimalistic and straightforward. When colours are used, it’s a very soft colour palette of pastels balanced with light-hued woods along with whites, tans and creams. The feel is inviting, warm and relaxed in its styling. Other standard features include natural elements like form-pressed wood, bright plastics, enamelled aluminium, steel and wide plank flooring.

6. Eclectic: Eclectic style is an interior design that blends different styles and motifs to create a unique aesthetic. Eclectic interior design may look effortless, but the style to look cohesive needs to be curated carefully to make sure that everything works together. Often, a unifying element or theme, like colour, texture, or a specific focal point.

7. Farmhouse: This style has become gradually popular, thanks to luxurious houses shown in television sitcoms. This style often has many different pieces of furniture pulled together in an effortless, modern and refined setting. Elements like plaids, checks or floral are used in this style, making it cosy, inviting and traditional without being too formal. Think rustic yet refined.

8. Classical: Soused in the comforts and grandeur of classic European décor, Classical style decor depends on time-tested elements, motifs and proportions to fit a modern lifestyle. Traditional style interiors are mainly distinguished by classic silhouettes, winged back chairs and elaborate furniture pieces. This interior style uses a lot of delicately carved and lacquered dark wood furniture and architectural embellishments.

9. Traditional: Traditional is one of the oldest and most common design styles rooted in heritage. They mainly include traditional architectural products, forms and shapes. You will often find furniture pieces that have not changed format since conception. It is all about mindful layering, formality, and incorporating elements with structure and symmetry.

10. French Country: Warm, earthy colours indicate a typical French Country design style, embellished and ornamental wooden furnishing. French Country style may include soft and warm red, yellow or gold tones and natural materials like stone and brick. French Country design can consist of heavy linens, ornate porcelain dishes and bed coverings.

11. Industrial: Industrial style decor draws inspiration from warehouses, factories, or an urban loft. This style screams unfinished rawness in many elements. A typical home with industrial design elements would have high ceilings, old timber and dangling metal light fixtures with sparse functional furniture. There may be additional pieces of abstract art to add a dash, some colour and brightness to an otherwise neutral colour scheme from wood and metals.

Identifying and cultivating your decor style is a gradual process. But it’s worth taking the time to find your decorating and design style before you start planning your dream house. Your design style will evolve as you discover new sources of inspiration or your tastes shift. Author bio: Vivek is a global sourcing expert and has worked with and assisted clients with their sourcing requirements for 1000+ projects in his 15+ years in the industry.
