Nature Scavenger Hunt:
Prepare a fun-filled scavenger hunt, tailored to your garden. Meticulously placing items around the area and setting a prize is a great way to create a fun competition for your guests or family. You could even invest in disposable cameras to capture the memory- and print them out a few days later as a gift. If it’s an adult only scavenger hunt, why not enjoy a cocktail or two?
Stargazing:
I think most of us often take our surroundings for granted- and even though we have access to great views, we hardly ever stop to marvel at its beauty. A camping adventure in the garden is the perfect way to see the stars and the universe out there, a moment to sit still and gaze at the stars. If you have children, stargazing can be exciting and educational as well as enjoyable- and for couples it can offer a romantic moment. And the best part is that it’s super cheap. You don’t need to worry about investing in a telescope, simply hold some binoculars to the sky and watch the night sky light up.
Campfire Cooking:
What’s better than a campfire in the back garden? Cooking hot dogs, dough sticks or even tasty treats like toasted marshmallows or smores is an excellent way to sit together, enjoy each other’s company and eat some great food. Either using a firepit (if you own one), or creating a small rustic fire, campfire cooking is an effective bonding session. For authentic purposes, limit the use of technology and have board and card games on hand.
Pitch a Tent:
A tent that accommodates all guests or members of the party is a fun way to get everyone involved in a huge sleepover. A nice treat for children, and a way for adults to relive a sleepover-esque experience, pitching a tent or a crafty teepee provides not only shelter but is a great way to get the full camping experience.
Hanging String Lights:
String lights are perhaps the most effortless yet effective way to add a magical touch to your back garden camping experience. Simply hang strands of lights either from the garden fences, around the tent or from four poles and watch your garden light up. No need to worry about bulky wires or extension leads, if you aren’t planning to have the lights as a permanent fixture, battery operated lights are perfect.
