1. Branding
If you do nothing else with your business, make sure you brand it. This is the most important thing you can do for yourself and your company. When people think of your business they will associate that thought with your brand name (assuming the brand name is unique). So, give some thought to how you want to be branded and then go out and market that way! For example, I don’t like the term “SEO”. It means Search Engine Optimization. You could say “search engine optimization” or just SEO for short. I took digital marketing classes at school and the teacher kept saying SEO, but I always heard it as “search”. When I would say that to my professor she would tell me that’s not a good thing. So, if I was a business owner and someone told me about SEO services from another company, I wouldn’t hire them because they don’t know how to brand themselves properly. So make sure you do!
2. Create a Unique Product or Service
If you do nothing else with your marketing, make sure you create something unique for your business. Your product should be special in some way — either it does something other products can’t or it is just different than everything else out there. I was at the fair with my family this weekend and I saw a guy advertising his business. He said he would take photos of you in front of one of the landmarks at the fairgrounds. It is something that several people were already doing, but not everyone does it with an expensive DSLR camera and with professional lighting equipment. So, even though there are lots of other people selling the same thing, people will still come to him because he provides them something better than what they could get elsewhere for less money.
3. Advertising
Without marketing how will anyone know about your business? Advertising is more than just telling everyone on social media about your company or talking about it all day on Facebook or Twitter. Marketing takes more effort — you have to advertise in magazines, newspapers, radio or television ads (either paid or aired). You can also advertise by hanging signs on bulletin boards around town — anything that will let people know you exist! The easiest way to get started is through Internet marketing by posting your website URL everywhere! There are many more ways you can go about advertising though if Internet marketing isn’t enough for you! Just be creative and find ways to get yourself noticed!
4. Free Promotions
According to Essaymama, his goes hand-in-hand with advertising because offering free promotions builds buzz around your company while increasing your customer base at the same time. Free promotions can take a lot of forms. For example, you can offer a free sample of your product to anyone who is interested in trying it. You could also give away some kind of prize with the purchase of a certain product or service. For example, if someone buys three bottles of my new energy drink they get one for free! Or you could do something like every time someone makes a purchase from your website you give them a coupon off their next order! Free promotions help to get people interested in your company and make them more likely to buy from you again because they had such a good experience the first time around that they want more!
5. Word-of-Mouth Marketing
Word-of-mouth marketing is probably the most effective form of marketing there is. It’s when people tell their friends about how great something is and then those friends go out and buy it too.
You don’t even need to do any marketing at all! I’m sure you’ve heard this before, but if you make a great product or service and it’s available to be purchased by everyone then people will buy it! If they like your product they will tell their friends about it and those friends will come back and buy from you as well. Word-of-mouth marketing is free advertising that only boosts the sales of your business, so if you can find a way to avoid paying for traditional forms of promotion — such as magazines and radio ads — then do so!
