file: /// sdcard / the TRICK to view your files from the browser

The special URL  file : /// sdcard / Show files stored in your Android memory in a few browsers, including Google Chrome.

If your cellular phone does not need a file manager, you must normally download an application of this sort to view and open the files on the telephone. But you are able to probably do this with exactly the same browser that’s already installed on your mobile device.

file: /// sdcard /

/ Sdcard index /, the listing of files in the inner memory of your Android, which appear once you head to the URL file : /// sdcard /

Enter file : /// sdcard / in the Chrome address bar and press “Go.” You will see a list of all the files and folders which can be in memory internal Of the device.

You will be able to see everything, including hidden files (whose name begins with a period). Photos, videos, text files , PDF and some other file can be looked at immediately in the browser. Even some APK saved in the mobile storage you are able to run and install it from here.

You can also directly enter paths to specific folders. For example, when putting  file : /// sdcard / whatsapp / You’ll enter the folder where WhatsApp saves images, voice memos, videos, etc. and visualize that content.

Touch where it says “Size” and you are able to quickly find out which files are the greatest in storage. In the event that you Touchez on «Modification date» they’ll be sorted according to the parameter.

In addition to Google Chrome, this trick also works on Firefox and Samsung Internet. It even works on the PC. For example, to view the files on hard disk C, type file : /// C: /// in Chrome or Mozilla Firefox on the computer.

Where this trick definitely does NOT work is on iPhone.

File limitations: /// sdcard /

With this method it is only possible to view the files in the inner storage. You cannot list the files on the SD card and a whole lot worse the files in the root of the unit (root), because apparently this involves special permissions that the browser doesn’t have.

Nor would you manage the cellular phone files by using this trick. To delete, copy or move the files to the SD card (if the memory is full and you intend to increase space), you will need a file browser even as we mentioned at the beginning.
