A lot of people and viewers are moving towards receiving content, information, and news from anonymous publishers and platforms. Many of these people have fallen out of love with the mainstream media. A reason why is the mainstream media’s inability to remove its bias from the news it provides. Another reason is that a lot of the mainstream media provide false news or news that is not verified or fact-checked. This has led to a falling out with their audience. As a result, viewers and online users have pivoted towards other publications, like The Doe for example.
These publications and platforms succeed in providing content that is anonymous. Through anonymous content, the reader can receive the information at face value. They are not deterred, distracted, or deceived by the identity of the provider and their repudiation. Instead, the identity is detached from the information, and the reader or viewer focuses only on the content being provided. Through this measure, readers are relieved from the preconceived bias that comes with knowing the news provider and their own beliefs or interests.
As more and anonymous content providers pop up, readers will gravitate towards them. Firstly, as a means to validate the news, they are receiving online. But eventually, they will welcome these anonymous publications as alternatives to the mainstream media. This shift in preference has already begun, as independent online platforms are growing in both presence and popularity. Time will tell how large these independent and anonymous entities will truly become.
