How To Save Photos on a Mac by using Drag-and-Drop
The quickest and easiest way to save your photos is to drag and drop your image. All that you need to do is follow these steps:
- Left-click and hold on your mouse cursor over the image you want to save
- Drag it to your folder of choice
- Once a “+” symbol appears and hovers over the file, release your left click

Use Your Mac’s Screenshot Feature
If a website does not let you store an image by right-clicking or drag-and-drop, take advantage of your Mac’s built-in screen capture software. There are three ways you can screenshot your screen.
First, you can use the keyboard shortcut Shift, Command, and 3 to capture the entire screen. Or, if you want to grab a specific window with your image, you can use Shift, Command, 4, and the space bar.
However, if you want to capture a portion of your screen, use Shift, Command, and 4. Afterward, drag the crosshair that appears on the screen to where you want to crop your image.
Once you screenshot an image or portion of your screen, you can find these images on your desktop.
Find the “Download” Icon or Text
When using email, cloud storage, or other applications that transfer files, they will give you an option to download the file using a lone icon, text, or a combination of the two. From there, you click on the icon; your browser will scan the file and afterward download the image.
When downloading an image using this method, ensure that the service you are downloading your file from is secure. Otherwise, you are exposing yourself to a potential security risk.
Right-Click the Image
Hover your mouse cursor over the image and click. Afterward, your system will present you with a dropdown menu—you will want to click “Save Image As…” Finally, select where you want to save your file and click the “Save” button.
However, if you are using a trackpad, tap both fingers simultaneously instead of right-clicking, and you will have the same menu.
